I will never understand the fascination with “drinking around the world.” But that’s probably because I don’t drink 🤪

I was driving in the car with my 11 year old daughter the other day. She saw these panels on a roof of a house we were driving by and asked me what they were. I told her they were solar panels. I began to explain to her what they do. As any preteen would, she rolled her eyes and told me she knows what they are for but has never seen one in person. It made me think back to Universe of Energy - a ride run by solar panels. My daughter never got to experience the ride because it was replaced before she was born. It would have been such a great educational experience for her. For me and my family it’s not about what rides and what we can get done in a day; it’s about the WHOLE experience. Soaking every moment in because who knows when the next time we will be able to enjoy this time in Disney, or what else will be gone soon…

For me a trip to Disney isn’t about how many rides I can do in fact for me it’s about soaking it all in, having gone as a child to now taking my child it’s about the magic and originality but the fear that one day it be all about the rides or the drinking around the world is absolutely ridiculous and not showing the culture to some places we may never get to visit and I know it has to keep up with the latest “trends” but the vision needs to be some class of originality and not some bar crawl! But hey that’s just how I feel others are bound to disagree and that’s their own opinion!

It is a sad shift in culture but perhaps it will be short lived. In theory, there will always be a renaissance around the corner.

I’m a pass holder and a DVC member. I live in Georgia and my wife and I visit two to three times a year just because of convenience. We have watched Disney shift from a magical experience to the cash grab it is today. It really is a sad state of the world we live in now. While there is no way to go back to the way things were before Covid it sure would be nice to see imagination return and a better balance that used to be. Unfortunately technology has creeped into our life and now everyone wants the Amazon experience with everything they do, similar to what you speak of in this article. Hopefully the future is bright at Disney and they find balance. It really is needed now more than ever.

The atmosphere and show detail is what sets Disney apart, in my opinion. Sad that many guests rush to get from one attraction to the next and completely miss those details.

W did drinking around the world with my grandson when he turned 21. We took paper cups and shared a drink. It was fun and making memories at the same time. We cruised around each area then did a drink. Probably the only time I would ever drink like that.

Last trip to EPCOT my daughter and I obtained the premier pass. While expensive, it slowed us down. And for the first time, she walked through the tea garden in England and read all about tea, walked through the museum in Japan, read about the Bonzi trees and their ages. She really soaked up the culture in each country…. I guess with the premier pass we were no longer rushing from ride to ride or beholding to our phone. For the extra price paid. We did have a more magical experience. We slowed down and took it all in…… one last part of the story. After dinner in Japan. We had one I unused lightening lane for guardians…. We had 15 minutes before ride closure…. We booked it (first time we rushed all day) from Japan to Guardians and during the walk/run I said “I hope we did t do all of this to hear disco inferno…”. To big laughs…. Well 10 minutes later. Listening to disco inferno…. Again

You make a good case for the pass but that makes for a very pricey visit. Almost like they turned the atmosphere into a cost center.
